The Israeli Center for the Treatment of
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders (OCD)
About the Center
The Israeli Center for the Treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders (or OCD) provides the first intensive treatment system of its kind in Israel to people suffering from obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors. Despite an increase over the last decade in interest in OCD and in literature on the topic, until now treatment options have remained limited. Most inflicted individuals desperately seek providers with expertise in this area, and these individuals often discontinue treatment due to difficulties in coping with treatment demands of exposure to high levels of anxiety.
Treatment of OCD requires several levels of intervention, which include an emphasis on the importance of systematic practice and repetition beyond the 1-hour weekly session in the clinic. One of the founding principles of the OCD Center is the inclusion of all areas of the patient's life in which the OCD has had impact in the treatment process, so as to return the patient to his or her level of functioning prior to the development of OCD.
The Israeli Center for the Treatment of OCD offers a variety of treatment options, based on numerous research studies conducted in the field. The treatment plan is composed of individual sessions with a psychologist, and complemented by individual coaching sessions. During the treatment various skills are acquired to cope affectively with obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors. The intensive treatment regimen includes sessions spread thoughout the week with up to three days per week, where each day can involve up to 8 hours of treatment depending on the patient's level of functioning. Every treatment regimen is customized to the level of motivation, specific problem, and desired goals of each patient at the beginning of their treatment.
